Perry’s new album isn’t all bubblegum pop. You see her growing up and dealing with her relationship problems. Some of the old Katy is still there, though, in tracks like Double Rainbow. Written by and featuring Sia, the track could have easily been an ‘80s hit.
The New Zealand born singer is a breath of fresh air in the music world with her cynical lyrics and addictive beats. Coming on to the scene so hard at just 16 has its share of problems, and that’s what the closing track of her album, A World Alone, is about. Read more.

The Great Gatsby has an Even Greater Soundtrack
The original motion picture soundtrack
is produced by Jay-Z, and features Will.i.am, Florence & the
Machine, The xx, and Mrs. Carter herself, Beyoncé.
The ensemble does well to capture the stylish, extravagant, and
cinematic vibe of Baz Luhrmann’s take on the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel.
The focal point of the score is Lana Del Rey’s Young and Beautiful, sung
to nostalgia-drenched perfection accompanied by a melodious string
arrangement. The song sounds like a soliloquy by Jay Gatsby himself. Read more about.
